In the spring of 2014, she travelled to Provence to study with master Plein Air painter Julian Merrow-Smith.

Her prize winning work has been featured in numerous arts-related magazines, including International Artist and The Pastel Journal.

A resident of Wellington since 2009, Pamela feels she’s found her true home at last in a rich and welcoming arts community where she exhibits in local galleries, participates in the PEC Studio Tours, and is a member of The Arts Trail.

Over her career, Pamela has explored a wide spectrum of painting genres, initially with pastels, and now exclusively with oils; from landscape and still life to figures, urban scenes and portraiture. In recent years, she has embarked on an exploration of abstract painting where her skills in drawing and textural brushwork combine with her understanding of colour and composition in unexpected and exciting ways. She moves effortlessly between vivid abstraction and arresting realism, each genre nourishing the other.

“In my beautiful new studio, Jazz, Classical music, and my cat Rothko are my constant muses.

Painting almost every day, no matter what the subject or genre, the illusive quality of light, inspiring painters through the ages, is my true challenge.

My hope is that through my painter’s eyes, you might see the beauty of the world as I do.”
